chair - n.
Almost invariably, when presented with the idea of I Love Sitting On Chairs, people ask things like, "Chairs only? What about couches? Do you just mean things you can sit on, or do you mean only chairs? Do you consider a stool a chair?" These questions are understandable. Usually they are in English, sometimes Broken, occasionally American Standard, but usually American Southern - and we are able to communicate in something approaching a dialogue. More importantly: we have had to ask of ourselves, "What is it, exactly, that we love?"
According to dictionary.com, the primary definition of a chair is "a seat, esp. for one person, usually having four legs for support and a rest for the back and often having rests for the arms." Most of the other definitions, while not forbidden, may not often come into play as concerns this project. The second definition, however, says, "something that serves as a chair or supports like a chair" and then gives the example, "The two men clasped hands to make a chair for their injured companion." If you believe in dictionaries, this might seem to blur the lines a bit. Dehumananizing your companions by referring to them as a chair is morally ambiguous, but we don't want legislate your morality.
We aren't interested in getting semantically involved (we just got out of a hard-to-define situation and aren't ready to become immersed, or entangled... or maybe enmeshed... again so soon), but we are dedicated to accuracy, truth, and, well, chairs - and a couch is most assuredly not a chair. For your convenience, this (by no means exhaustive) list has been provided.
